Why I chose the laboratory have decided
On 14 September 2026 I took part in the DERMICA training on the ExoPDRN Solution – an hour and a half with the field team, the complete slide deck and plenty of questions from the group. Three things convinced me.
Firstly: no fish protein. PDRN from salmon is a foreign animal protein. Lab-made PDRN is not – and I can offer it to everyone who lives vegan or halal, or simply does not want fish protein on their skin.
Secondly: consistent quality. Every batch has the same purity and the same molecular weight. I know what goes into the skin – today, in four weeks and in eight.
Thirdly: the formula. PDRN, plant exosomes, glycine, proline and hyaluronic acid in one ampoule, with nothing needing to be added. It is the most consistent active-ingredient solution I have used with the GoldPen so far.
And one thing I have firmly decided: the ExoPDRN appointment is not a wellness appointment. 50 minutes, focused, with the GoldPen at 0.5 mm – and afterwards the skin gets the time it needs.

PDRN wird in der Haut in seine Bausteine – Nukleotide und Nukleoside, vor allem Adenosin – zerlegt. Beschrieben werden zwei Wege, auf denen diese Bausteine genutzt werden: Über einen Adenosin-Signalweg wird in den Hautzellen ein Botenstoff (cAMP) angestoßen, der die Aktivität der Fibroblasten – der Zellen, die Kollagen und Elastin bilden – anregt. The plant-based exosomes carry small RNA molecules as signals from cell to cell – “communication”, while the PDRN stands for “regeneration”. Together, that gives the name ExoPDRN. According to these documents, the fragment sizes of the lab-made PDRN are smaller and more uniform than those of animal-derived PDRN – an advantage for purity and reproducibility.
Fermentation has a long tradition in Korean and Japanese cosmetics and can concentrate active ingredients considerably. To put the market in context: exosome products differ greatly in origin, production and standardisation, whereas classic PDRN products hardly differ from one another. ExoPDRN combines both – regeneration and cell communication – in a controlled biotechnological formulation with a consistent composition.

What is PDRN – and what is ExoPDRN?
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotides: short-chain DNA building blocks that the skin is familiar with. Traditionally, PDRN is obtained from salmon. ExoPDRN is the solution by DERMICA in which the PDRN is produced biotechnologically through fermentation and combined with plant-based exosomes, glycine, proline and hyaluronic acid.
Why no PDRN from salmon?
Because lab-made PDRN needs no animal protein and has the same purity and molecular weight in every batch – produced by fermentation in a clean room rather than from fish farming. It is COSMOS-certified, vegan and halal. For us, that is the reason we chose this variant.
What are plant exosomes?
Tiny vesicles from comfrey stem cells that carry messenger substances such as small RNA molecules, amino acids, lipids and proteins. In the ExoPDRN ampoule they complement the PDRN. They are in liquid form, not freeze-dried – so structure and function are preserved.
Is ExoPDRN the same as “polynucleotides” from a doctor?
Related, but not the same. Polynucleotides are longer-chained and are injected by doctors. PDRN consists of shorter fragments and is applied cosmetically by needling – with us using the GoldPen at 0.5 mm on the face. We do not offer injections or medical treatment.
How many ExoPDRN sessions do I need?
We recommend three sessions one month apart, then a top-up every two months as needed. Visible changes take about four weeks. You book the first session to get to know it; if you decide on the 3-session course within four weeks, we credit it.
How does the ExoPDRN appointment work?
Skin analysis, then 50 minutes of focused needling with the GoldPen and the ExoPDRN ampoule, finishing with the collagen mask and aftercare for home. Extraction, brows or other treatments are deliberately scheduled for another day – this appointment is dedicated to regeneration.
Is the ampoule combined with other active ingredients?
No. ExoPDRN is a complete solution with four active ingredients and we use it neat – without adding a Lifting, Revitalizing or Hyaluron ampoule. The other Premium Needling ampoules remain in our range for other skin concerns.
Why only 0.5 mm needle depth?
Because it is the right depth for cosmetic needling on the face, and the ampoule is concentrated enough to work with. Only medicine goes deeper – that is not our field.
When will I see something – and what does the skin look like straight afterwards?
Right after the appointment, the skin may be reddened for a few hours, similar to after sunbathing; no make-up for 48 hours. The actual change takes about 28 days – the skin works at its own pace. That's why there is a month between sessions.
Which skin is ExoPDRN intended for?
For all skin types – vegan, fragrance-free, with no animal protein. We particularly recommend it for skin that looks tired and stressed or shows the first signs of ageing, and for anyone who wants skin longevity rather than short-term effects.
